During the last years a new type of intermediary, named Microfinance Investment Vehicles (MIVs), has evolved within the microfinance sector, channelling funds from investors in rich countries to microfinance institutions in the developing world. Due to the growing importance of these intermediaries, MicroRate, the first rating agency dedicated to the evaluation of microfinance institutions, began surveying their features and trends. Within this context, t33 supported MicroRate with the project being aimed at increasing visibility of MIVs performance indicators thorough cooperation with leading providers of financial information.
